Hi Angela: I'm not a fan of MySpace, though I have to admit it still has a very large community to reckon with. Sheer number always carry certain influences. I think it will continue to maintain such a large user base for a long time to come. Guess we'll see.

Tom M.: Yeah I agree. TV ads are expensive, and when you count in the production costs of those ads it gets worse. There are definitely newer, cheaper and more effective ways. I just thing the TV medium will wake up soon and do whatever it can to protect own pot of gold.

You're right, TV is easy, but then again that's for those that can drop a million dollar on advertising.

Thanks Adam. People like free everything and naturally will gravitate toward these tools for their communication needs. On the other hand, I think people are lazy too, and social media does require effort. So for a while yet the TV (you have to admit those flat screens in HD are nice) or TV content will continue to be popular for a good segment of consumers, while an increasing number of people will go online.

With respect to the TV, I'm not counting it out yet. I think those guys will find a way to provide online content too (plus other new services we haven't thought of) in order to stay in the market.

Television is becoming a thing of the past. As someone wiser than myself said, "people don't want the huge screen in their house, they want the service it provides". Most people are finding the content they want from online sources. A wise entrepreneur, small or large business, should be diversifying their marketing through free services like the ones you mentioned.

Good Article
